After the first 5 weeks of baby Harper's life we finally figured out why she was vomiting so much. At first we thought it was reflux, but then found ourselves realizing that it was much worse. She has a condition called Pyloric Stenosis. This morning I took Mason to the Dr. and he had a left ear infection along with other upper respiratory things. While I was at the Dr. she asked me how Harper was doing. I told her honestly, not any better. We started her on reflux meds 4 days prior and it didn't seem to be helping. She told me to bring her back in today and so I did. When we arrived back after dropping Mason off and getting antibiotics in him, she was weighed and it said 7 lbs 13 oz. She lost another ounce. Day by day she kept losing weight at this point. Dr. Pandya set up an ultrasound at 1:30pm to check for Pyloric Stenosis. Off we went. She couldn't eat anything for 3 hours prior to the ultrasound. I felt like this was torture. Luckily, Papa was visiting with us and he accompanied us to the Dr. He was a great help! When we arrived at the office, we took her back to the room and the technician did the ultrasound. She said wait here while she has the Dr. look at the results. Right then I knew she had the condition the pediatrician talked to us about. Five min. later I get a call from Dr. Pandya and she confirmed the diagnosis and she told us to go straight to Dell Children's Hospital and get checked in. They were going to do the surgery tonight. Frankly, I was upset that she had this, but relieved all at the same time because we could finally fix what was wrong and she could start eating again. We checked in at the registrations desk and then about 45 min. later we went to her hospital room #307. When we got there Lindsay the nurse came in and she took vitals and a team started to get an IV in her. They weighed her again and the scale said 7 lbs. 5 oz. It was so sad to watch them stick her, but she was a trooper especially for not eating all day. They were able to thread her vein quickly so it was not drawn out. After what felt like days, she finally went in for surgery with Dr. Garcia at 10pm. The surgery only took about 45 minutes. Dr. Garcia came out to tell us she did great and was doing well. She did the incision directly in her belly near the belly button and said years from now you probably won't even notice it. She told us the nurse would get us once she woke up from the anesthesia. About 15 min. later we went back to see her. She was crying uncontrollably is a soft wispy sound. Her voice was horse from crying most of the day. After about 30 min. in recovery we went back to her room and waited six hours before we could feed her. She would sleep for a short period of time then wake up again hungry. Poor baby. Well, I stayed with her that night in the hospital and tried to get some sleep. When 5:30am arrived I was so happy to be able to feed her. The nurse tried to give her pedialyte first to make sure she could hold that down. She was able to so we started on small amounts of formula. Once I took the bottle out of Harper's mouth we both looked at each other wondering if it was going to come back up or if she would hold it down. Well, the good news is that she did hold it down, for the first time in 5 weeks! We were so happy and about 2:30pm that next day we were discharged with a much happier baby and parents! We were so pleased with everything that Dell Children's hospital had to offer as well as a very good pediatric surgeon. She was in good hands! Now time to go home and get fat!

Poor Harper!!!! But it was good to finally find out what was wrong with her. That poor baby. Everything worked out well. She is a trooper!!! Thank God she is fine now......she looks so cute even when she cries.....she is just adorable. Love, Grandma
